My computer is about 4 years old operating on the Windows
me system.
I haven't been able to defrag my computer for about 3
years.
Someone on this site gave me instructions how to do it in
DOS a long time ago and I lost it in my move.
Can anyone give me those instructions again.

Are you sure you were told how to do it in DOS on Windows 2000?

Close down all running applications/virus scanner etc.

Click START/RUN

Type 'dfrg.msc' in the RUN box & press ENTER or click OK

Analyse the disk isn't necessary, just click DEFRAGMENT

No need to analyse. Just click DEFRAGMENT

I hope this helps

One thing to try is before defragging run chkdsk c: /F in the command prompt
first. You will likely need to reboot so the defragger can work.
