defrag killed partition?

this night I launched a defrag of my data partition, this morning al lseemed
ok and I shutdown the pc. now it says the drive si not formatted? any clues,
how to get it back or recover information?
 
Would you be able to boot from the XP CD and run chkdsk on the partition. I
guess it is a partition on the master physical drive.

indeed, my system partition is still ok, so I can boot etc, its my logical
data drive (NTFS) that is gone, do yout hink running chkdsk could help?
