Definetions-I just don't get it

I have been using WD since it was released and have had no problems until now
on my own PC. But I have 2 test PCs that have problems with the definetions
and now my own is having problems. I follow this forum and have seen the
issues with updating definetions. I have a WSUS Server running and get the
updates via the WSUS server. The latest update would not show up as installed
within the WD program. I looked at the server and it showed that the update
was installed on my PC. But it was not showing as installed by the WD
program. I cleaned the installation and it finally installed and showed up
as installed. My problem is this, MS keeps pushing this BETA software along
with IE 7 BETA and there are definet issues with both of these programs. How
am I suppose to roll this out to my machines if I can't get it to work on my
own!!! I have been debating installing WD on all the PCs I take care of but
I can't be running around cleaning out old definetions to install the new
ones. It just does not work consistently. I have it on 3 PCs in the IT
office and have never been able to get it to run consistently. This
definetion problem is just too much!! I am not going to install it until they
get this figured out and working consistently. My 2 test pcs are never used
by users and are clean installs, what would keep them from updating and
scanning as scheduled and with the correct definetions? I just don't know.
Microsoft needs to fix this and the history problem with IE 7 before sending
out newsletters encouraging people to install these programs. IE is one
thing but the WD is something people need to be able to work properly since
you are relying on it to keep malware etc off the PC. MOO

I appreciate the response but this has nothing to do with troubleshooting my
WSUS server, it has worked flawlessly in every respect except for Windows
Defender. I also understand this is Beta software, my point is that MS is
promoting people to install these beta products and seriously most people
would not know what to do when the definetion updates fail. My users would
notice it and I would be plagued with why isn't my WD updating and I would
say well according to WSUS it is updated, you see where I am going with
this......

Hi Juli,

I don't have experience with WSUS, but what I learn here in this NG, is: If
your windows update is pointing to your local WSUS, then you must include the
Windows Defender in synchronization setting.

In Products selection, please include Windows Defender

In Update classifications, please include Definition Updates

You must synchronize the server and approve the definition for clients to
get the latest definition.
