A useful WD alteration request

Hi
yes i know WD is free but it cant hurt to request an alteration.

Its really to do with the Automatic scanning 'Time' (and really to do with
Windows Updates 'Time' setting)
You can only pick scan(WD) or download time options ' on the hour '

As i dont use WSUS and induvidual PCs get thier own updates id much rather
see the scanning and download 'time' options pickable in 15min increments.

And to be honest id rather see that you could click (next to the time
selector) that picked a random time (based on the PCs time clock) between say
9am and 5pm
The range could even be a drop down box with about 6 setting to pick from ie
Early Morning (12am - 6am)
Morning (6am - 9am)
Later morning (9am - 12pm)
Early Afternoon (12pm - 3pm)
Afternoon (3pm - 5pm)
Late Afternoon (5pm - 7pm)
Etc

Or
random AM
random PM

or something

But picking an hour, to me, might mean 40 of our PC access the net at
exactly the same time.

You'd definitely benefit from a cache--have you considered ISA Server?
Have you looked at a selection of system event log messages relating to the
timed scans (and preceding updates?) I have the impression that this
process may have some such factor thrown in already.

We have a built in throttle already in the product. We will not start
scanning at the exact time set as the scan time. We will make that feature
clear so that users know that the scan will start "around" the time as
opposed to at the "exact" scan time.
