Defender update problem - Need Help

I just bought windows LiveOne Care. It comes with with Windows Defender.
Anyway, I am having the same update problem some members have talked about.
This is the error message I get: "WD Unable to complete the update:
0x8024001d. The system cannot write to the specified device."
I tried http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=915105 but without any luck. I
even tried The Microsoft update homepage. I started the Express update, but
after a while I received an error message saying "The website has encountered
a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view." The Error #
was the same 0x8024001d.
Please help. I have tried everything and nothing works.

For now, I've decided to uninstall it from my computer and install a
different virus protector and spyware program. I can't believe MS hasn't been
able to fix this problem.
