defender not recognized by wiindows security

I disabled my normal antivirus and left Defender running. I got a security
warning telling me I didn't have an antivirus running. The warning also
stated that window security didn't recognize all antivirus programs. Well,
defender says its running and windows doesn't recognize it. Why wouldn't
windows recognize windows defender?

Windows Defender is an anti-spyware program not an anti-virus program.

As Anonymous Bob says--Windows Defender is not an antivirus. You need an
antivirus program in addition to Windows Defender.
