Defender License Terms

I was reading the License Terms agreement part of Defender. Does anyone know
exactly how long Defender will run?

USE RIGHTS. If you comply with this agreement, you have the right to install
and use one copy of the software on your computer until December 31, 2006,
or until the date we release a commercial version of the software, whichever
date is first.
TIME-SENSITIVE SOFTWARE. The software will stop running on December 31,
2006. You will not receive any other notice. You will not receive any
further updates when the software stops running.

Well, is it going to stop on December 31 or what? After reading those two
lines it got confusing what it really meant.

Not being a lawyer, I wouldn't attempt to interpret this. What it does say
to me is that we will see either another release of the beta, or a final
release, before December 31 (or thereabouts!)

....and if history is any guide, there was an extension or two of
MSAnti-Spyware until our friend succumbed to an internal time bomb on July
31... R.I.P.
