Defender icon

I get an icon with the defender wall and a orange exclamation mark. I click
on the icon and defender comes up saying "Windows Defender definitions havent
been updated in 24 days(increments each day)." When I check for updates, I
already have the latest ones installed. Why does it say it is not update?

Try this:
Go to Windows Update, and check for Critical updates.

Yeah, fixed up my issues, there were 2 new hotfixs/patchs via Windows Update
for Defender

Have the same problem but no new updates are available for installation any
way to fix this problem.Have tried to uninstall and reinstall,tried to take
out update file says not valid....any suggestions....

Thanks Engel. but I already did that. Its a brand new system and I just
installed XP pro SP2 and all the critical updates. Any other ideas. I guess i
could just forcibly hide the icon
