defect tracking software

Alain

Hi

I'm looking for simple freeware defect tracking software (or bug
tracking software) on windows for use with a few people. I've looked at
bugzilla, but it looks like a lot of work to set up (surely on windows).

I've looked at newfire (free for up to five users), but it's
registration key has to be renewed every year. Which makes it risky to
use.

Using a browser interface would be very nice.

Any ideas?

Bugzilla is very, very powerful, but as you say neither simple nor
Windows friendly. It's great though and constantly updated.

What type of program are you developing? Sf.net offers a great
service for open source developers.

Sift through this Google catagory for more bugtrackers:

Most of them seem to be web-based; usually based around LAMP. This
makes it a right old fiddle for people who just want to plug-n-play.

If you find a good one that's not web-based and reliant on Apache,
perl/python/php and MySql, then it would be nice if you would post a
comment about it on this newsgroup.

Sorry, but I find it hard to believe that any serious programmer can't deal
with something that isn't entirely click-and-play.

Why's that a problem again?
