default view FOR DIALOG BOXES

Hi folks,

is there any way to force windows to ALWAYS show me a DETAILS view in any
dialog box I ever see?

NOTE: I am NOT talking about the view that comes up with windows explorer. I
am talking about 'dialog boxes', the things that appear when, in a program,
you go to "File > Open", for example.

[I can't imagine why anyone who uses more than a few files would ever want
any other view]

I've googled around on this a fair bit.

Once you get through all of the 'helpful' people who think that the question
being posed has something to do with file explorer, you discover this can't
be done.

I find that surprising, given that this is a basic issue that has to do with
managing data. Computers are usually pretty good at that.

Anyways, if this is added as a 'feature' to Vista - I might actually upgrade!

you're not talking about the shortened drop down lists that only show the
last few selected things you used from that menu ? (click to expand type of
deal ? )

No.

Did you read any of my posts?

Do you know what a dialog box is?

You didn't say what your default view is.

Save As, Open and Browse default to List view for me.

I think they always default to List, in any program, and any dialog box.

Can I change this, universally, to Details?

The answer out there seems to be NO.

And I think that you answered your own question. ;-)
