default user

I recently set up a default user profile on a newly installed xp (pro)
system. Everyone that logged in received the default settings. The setup
worked wonderfully and saved me an enormous amount of work.

However, I now find that I want to make incremental changes to each users
profile. If I make the changes to the default profile will this then carry
over to each other profile? How can I do this effectively? I want to make
these setting changes to everyone's existing profile and anybody who should
login in the future.

And...I don't want to ruin the already existing profiles. I'm concerned that
if I copy a changed profile to the default user profile it will adversly
affect properties I want to keep on the profiles that already exist.

It wont change other user accounts,if makeing other unknown changes,
open system restore and first create a restore point.
