Default settings keep resetting

Matt Martin

I have deployed Outlook 2003 from a Windows 2003 SBS
platform to some desktops. The outlook is running fine.
They have a POP3 mail account which I have setup in their
outlook. There is also an exchange server account which we
are not using yet. Everytime I set the POP3 mail account
as the default it stays as long as you log off the
computer. When you shut down the computer soft or hard
boot, the outlook settings return to the default of the
exchange service as the default. If we remove the exchange
service then they lose their emails. Any suggestions on
what can be done to keep the POP3 service as the default
even if they reboot the computer. Could it be the
registry??????

thanks,
Matt

on my system it's called SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat, which runs setup in
\\computername\Clients\Setup - a prf is in that folder that controls outlook
accounts. You can edit the prf using notepad (see the ORK to learn what to
edit http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/2003/journ/PRFwhitepaperintro.htm)

I didn't change the prf, I just created a new profile and left the one
generated by the script alone - I don't have a problem with the SBS account
taking over.
