Default Printer Problems

Hello

Can anybody advise about the following:

I'm starting to come across users on the network I help maintain who have
had their default printer automatically reassigned to something (normally to
the 'Microsoft Office Document Image Writer') other than their normal HP
printer in Windows XP. In some cases a message saying the printer drivers are
no longer installed will pop up if you try to put the default printer back,
but if you log out and back in again they reappear? The printer drivers have
all been installed locally.

Suggestions please!!!

Are the printers installed locally... or just the drivers?

Sounds like there are some corrupted printer drivers in there somewhere
which is causing the spooler to crash. The real solution is to uninstall
and reinstall, ensuring you get rid of the drivers on the way.
