Default .mdw

Hi,

I have been given the task of securing a new multiuser
database, having read through the FAQ re how to go about
this numerous times I feeling kind of confident to go
ahead. I have on small question I am hoping someone can
answer. When I create the new .mdw file, which is to be
stored on the central server, can I automatically direct
the users to this when opening the new database, i.e. so
they don't have to run wrkgadm.exe and then upon exit
there system reverts to there system default .mdw?

Hopefully that came out in some understandable way and I
am not missing something obvious, any assistance much
appreciated.

Regards

Just get them to start the secured database using a shortcut of the
following format - all on one line:

"full path to MSACCESS.EXE"
"full path to secured AMDB"
/wrkgrp "full path to securing MDW"

That approach does not redefine the default workgroup file. So if they
double-click an unsecured db on their own PC, it will still use the default
workgroup file.

PS. Make sure you >WRITE DOWN< all the details you enter when you create the
new workgroup file & the users therein. Then, you can recreate that
workgroup file if the original & all backup copies are lost or corrupted.
