Some web sites display an option to make their page your
default home page. If you select this option, your
currente home page may be replaced without giving you a
warning. This happened to me and my permanent default
home page is res://mshp.dll/index.html#10213
HOW CAN I TAKE THIS OFF MY DEFAULT MY DEFAULT HOME PAGE?
I have tried everything but no luck, I have not found any
instruction on how to do it from microsoft, I found one
but did not work.

In Internet Explorer, click on Tools/Options. The top section allows you to
set your Home Page to either blank, current or default. If you are viewing
the page you want as your Home Page, just click on "Current." It is also
possible to use a file for your Home Page as well. Be sure to click on OK
when you are done with your selection.

Hi Dave,

A bit more complicated than that is this issue:

Homepage resets to: res://mshp.dll/index.html#22776

It makes changes here: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Default_Search_URL
Start Page

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Default_Page_URL
Default_Search_URL
Search Bar
Search Page
Start Page

It also adds: C:\Windows\mshp.dll

Manual Procedure: Remove the above mentioned entries including going to
Start/Run/Msconfig/Win.ini/Windows/Run and Unchecking fntldr.exe

Then follow up by running HijackThis:
