Default Heading Styles

How can I stop the heading1, 2 and 3 styles appearing in the Formatting
Palette be default with any new document including any template I create with
my own user style sheets?

This is possible in Word 2002 and 2003 but not in earlier versions. Since
you don't tell us what version you're using, a complete answer is not
possible.
