I have problem with opening files of type "drive" after installing ATI
Radeon Catalyst 3.9 drivers: I.E clicking on "C:" drive in "My Computer"
resulted in "Search" window instead of just opening in same window as
before.
Suspect this problem resulted from drivers changing file associations as
many icons changed. In fact the majority of icons including many system
icons changed to "unknown". Thought the whole thing was hosed for sure.
Removing 3.9's then re-installing drivers from CD that came with Sapphire
9500 video card did restore most icons.
The "partial fix" described below gets me to where drives open BUT only in
new window, even though I have options set to "open each folder in the same
window".
Open "My Computer", go Tools, Folder Options, File Types, select Drive, hit
"Advanced" button, add new action "open", browse to C: WINDOWS, select
"explorer.exe", make sure "open" is selected, click "Set Default" button &
OK, OK, OK.
