Folder's default action

A few days ago, I found a nice folder icon that I wanted
to use. To change it, I tried to go to the Folder
Options, in the File Types section and changed the icon
of the "File Folder" type (which didn't work by the way.
I guess I have to change the "Folder" type's icon but
Windows doesn't let me do it). Right after doing this,
the default action when clicking on folders changed
to "search". In other words, when I click on a folder, it
opens a search window for this folder. To open a folder,
I have to right click the folder and select open.

Since this, I tried to change the default action of the
type for folders: "File Folder" has actions related to
Winamp but no default action. "Folder" has the actions
Open and Explore. I put Open to the default action, but
it didn't fix the problem.

How can I put the default action of folders back to open ?

Thank you

"How can I put the default action of folders back to open ?"

I had same problem with files of type "drive" after installing ATI Radeon
Catalyst 3.9 drivers (I.E "C:" drive in "My Computer"). While searching for
fix I found your question. It's been so long you probably already got it
fixed, but just in case...

This was my fix:

Open "My Computer", go Tools, Folder Options, File
Types, select Drive, hit "Advanced" button, add new action "open", browse to
C: WINDOWS, select "explorer.exe", make sure "open" is selected, click "Set
Default" button & OK, OK, OK.

In your case select Folder instead of Drive.
