default domain policy

Hi @all

I used the default domain policy for all of our gpo
settings in our domain, but since a few days (i don´t know
exactly since when and why) i only have the w2k setting in
the default domain policy all winxp setting are gone and i
have no idea how i can get them back.
If i make a new policy the winxp setting are there.

I tried to upgrade to the Winxp settings how it is
described in the knowledge base:
307900 Upgrading Windows 2000 Group Policy for Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=307900

but this is changing nothing.

The strange thing is that it worked for some time i don´t
know why it is not working anymore.

Know i use a workaround and made a new policy and
deactived the default policy.

Any tips are welcome

Hi Christian,

I think we can delete the default domain policy. Then, recreate the group
policy with the default domain policy.

This should work.

Thanks for using Microsoft News Group!

It's not a good idea to delete the default domain or the default domain
controllers policies. Once they're gone, certain applications won't be able
to find them anymore since those GPO GUIDs will be invalid. I'm not sure
what behaviors you would run into in this case.
