Default bullet has changed

Recently when I open an old document in Word 2002 (or someone else sends me a
new document) which contains regular bulleted lists, the bullets show up as a
strange symbol instead a traditional bullet.

I can highlight the bad bullets list, click on the 'bullet icon' twice and
they will convert back to normal bullets, but what a pain! I am being forced
to do this in all my old docs as well as any new ones sent to me by others.
It seems that my default definition of what a standard bullet looks like has
somehow changed.

Note: When I start a new document, the bullet function works fine and I see
regular bullets.

Please help. I tried everything and have searched everywhere for an answer
to this question.

G'day "Brent" <[email protected]>,

This is why we create and use styles to control text formatting. You
need to use style List Bullet.
