Tabs and Bullets

Recently, something strange is happening with Word on my home computer. When
I make lists, tests, or outlines using bullets, and I press tab, the bullet
does not indent. Only the cursor/text indent. I am sure the default is that
a tab will indent the entire bullet to a new level. What is going on (or
what have I accidentally changed) with my version of Word XP?

Select Tools > AutoCorrect Options > "AutoFormat As You Type" tab and turn on
the setting "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces".

In case of Word 2007, you will find the AutoCorrect dialog box here:
Office button > Word Options > Proofing – click the "AutoCorrect Options"
button.
