DEFAULT BROWSER

D

DAVID LEWIS

I use Netscape as well as IE. Netscape is currently the
default browser, and I want to change the default to IE.
How do I do that?

Ramesh [MVP]

Hi David,

Open Internet Explorer > Tools > Options > Programs and enable the option:
"Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser"
Close IE and open again. Click YES if you are prompted to set it as default browser.

For Windows XP, you may use this method as well:
Download the .reg fix. Set Internet Explorer as default browser:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_Default_Browser.reg
Use this only if IE is installed in its default location [C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer]

This method did not work--IE did not prompt me to choose

Sorry, I'm a little lost here. First, where should I find
the location to check whether "check_associations" is set
to Yes? Second, what associations are we talking about?
Third, where and how do I go about adding an association
if I need to?

the "Check_Assocation" was already set to "yes. Is there
something I can turn off in Netscape that might be over-
