Default browser

My default browser IS Mozilla-Firebird (I checked)
My default email client IS Mozilla-Thunderbird (I checked)
but links in Tbird and Xnews open in IE not in Fbird.
I have removed all references to OE in my file properties.
Setbrowser does not help.
So what do I do next?

I have tried all the Mozilla ng's, faq's and forums.

have you tried this?

In Control Panel-Internet Options, on the Programs Tab, check the box
"Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser"
open IE and when the box comes up "Do you want IE to be the default browser"
try checking "No".

In Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / File Types
scroll down to:

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol
and
URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy

Double click on each entry in turn, and highlight the Firebird
entry. Press 'Set Default'.

In there isn't a Firebird entry, create a 'New' entry, and
enter (adjust path if necessary):

"C:\Program Files\MozillaFirebird\MozillaFirebird.exe" "%1"
