Default beep on startup

Hi-
Every time I start my XP Pro SP2, I get the default beep about 10 times -
bong bong bong b-b-bong - you get the idea. Then everything is fine.
It seems to happen as my McAfee stuff is loading (Privacy Service maybe?)
but I don't know if it's related.
What up?
(This was happening before SP2 came along - can't remember when it started...)
Thanks

I think you probably have a sound event set to start. Look in the
Control Panel Sounds & Audio Devices applet. Click on the Sounds tab
and see what you have set to play on events. Or set the sound scheme to
"none" and see if the sound goes away.

That's how I found out that the sound I hear is called the "default beep" I
scrolled through all the events and played the sounds until I found the right
one. My question is not so much how to make the sound stop (I could just
make the event called "default beep" have "none" for sound) but to understand
what event is causing the beep in the first place. It is some sort of error
sound. Odd that the event itself is named "default beep." The sound is
called something "ding."

I think it is McAfee that does it. I have their AV and firewall, and get
three dings after the desktop is up. (Before the firewall was added, I got 2
dings). Never found any explanation, but I think McAfee is doing it.
