DCPROMO

I am trying to uninstall a very corrupt server from our
network. The AD started acting up and now we can't get
it to uninstall / dcpromo. We have another server with
an entirely new domain, which shouldn't come into play.
However, the original Domain Controller with Active
Directory actually picks up the new domain AD. What I
need to know is ... is there a way to force AD removal?

Ted,

If you have SP4 installed then there is a switch that you
can run alongside the DCPROMO. It is
simply 'DCPROMO /forceremoval'.

Take a look at the following MSKB Article:

If you put SP4 (SP2+) on Win2000 it enables a new dcpromo /forceremoval
switch. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=332199

There's another way using NTDSutil metadata cleanup ( but it is way too
tedious to describe unless you REALLY need it.)
