DCPROMO in W2K server

Is it possible to log into a W2K DC server using cached
credentials after it has physically removed from the
network, and then run DCPROMO on it to demote it to a
member server even though it's not on the network?

Yes, but there are some more steps. You'll need to use a /forceremove switch
with dcpromo, as it will try to contact the directory & demote itself &
clean up the directory.

Since the DC won't be able to clean up the directory, you'll need to do so
