I recently installed XP Home Ed. on my computer. It works
fine except when you boot up or restart the computer. XP
can't get the date and time from the BIOS, so it starts up
with a random time and a date of Monday, January 1, 1601.
I have to reset the date and time every time I restart or
boot up. I've tried re-installing XP and updating my
BIOS, but with no change. Can anybody help

How old is your motherboard? If it has a battery have you tried replacing
it?

The motherboard, but I did a check of the battery. I
turned off the computer and unplugged it. Two hours later
I plugged it bck in and booted up. It still had the
correct time in BIOS, so I think the battery is OK.

Could the battery still be bad?

Are you getting any error message and if so what exactly does it say?
