database problem

I was given some very old access databases to work with. Now the problem
when
I try to open them it tells me that Access 2000 can't open access 1.x
databases. any way I can open these and still retain the information and
more importantly since the program that uses these expects 1.x format is
there any way to save them back to 1.x format?

Wow. Is the company that provided these databases still using DOS 6.0?
Access 1.1 has been followed by 2.0, 95, 97, 2000, XP, and 2003.

No, you cannot save databases in 1.1 format from Access 2000. You
cannot even do so from 2.0, I don't believe - 2.0 can *read* the data
in a 1.1 database but not modify the structure of the database. As it
happens I still have 2.0 installed and (for a very modest consulting
fee) would be willing to extract the data into 2.0, then into 97, then
into 2000 for you... but I can't think of any good way to save the
data into 1.1 format other than finding some very old floppy disks
(or, if you're lucky, 3.5" diskettes) with 1.1 and installing it.

You will have to do an upgrade of your software, I fear!
