Database for inventory with in and out data to change/keep counts

We need an Access inventory database that when you use input and output
reports and/or forms, the inventory count stays the same when you go to do
another input/output each time you generate a report.

Any help would be appreciated, we have looked into using Excel to do this,
but it won't keep the inventory when the input data is changed, and it might
be harder to do with Access without linking to an Excel sheet, but I don't
know how to do this either.

Thanks,
Jim

Not really sure what you're looking for.

If you use a form to input or output item then the number of items (in stock
- on the shelf - etc) will change. If you are simply looking for a report
generator you may be better looking at a MS Word template.

Access is a relational data holding tool and as such it is able to be used
as an "inventory D Base" with reports showing various stock levels, usage,
etc, etc in a number of ways (graph, lineage, etc).

Can you be a bit more specific about your needs ??

Hi Wayne,

We now have an Excel set of worksheets that when you fill out the input
sheet, it will go through the inventory reference sheet, see what we have for
these parts, and output to the print out sheet, showing which parts are
needed. The problem is, we need to be able to do this process over and over,
each time generating a print out sheet for our shop, then each time after, be
able to do the same process (input cabinets, which sees what parts are
available, and spit out a print out sheet of what is needed), BUT be able to
delete the input entries, and go to the next job without changing the
inventory totals!!!! And it looks like this is an unusual process, noone has
really been able to help me in the Excel forums and now here. If I could get
a little help on a simple DB to hold the parts info and let the Excel sheets
input somehow to the DB, but I've never done this!!

Thanks,
Jim
