Database Errors

Nick Colyer

We've been running BCM2007 with Outlook 2007 for sometime now and sharing it
over our network. Our database became corrupt in December, and we restored a
backup.

Now we are having more problems.

It looks as if our data is there but when we go to Business Contact Manager
Database Tools > Manage Database we get the error:

Business Contact Manager for Outlook could not complete your last action or
actions. Please try again.

It then brings up the Manage Database screen but no database is listed or
any of the info filled in. See screenshot:

When we check the event viewer it says user Doug (the user we log onto this
pc with and always have) can not authenticate.

I've checked the properties of the BCM folder and Doug has full control etc.

It also seems to look for MSSmallBusiness2.MDF which is weird as we are
using MSSmallBusiness3.MDF since we restored the database.

Please can you suggest the best course of action?

Do we need to do a complete reinstall? Any idea what could have caused this
error. Outlook was crashing sometimes when we inputted some information on
the various forms.

More important than the BCM folder, user Doug has to have permission
to access the sql and the database. Did user Doug create the database
(s)?

The good news is that your data is probably still in the database's
file. If you don't have someone around that's familar with Sql Server
databases - how to attach them to the service; find them on the disk;
and so on - and can diagnose what amiss in your system, you may want
to call Microsoft support for help.
