Data Execution Prevention

I just d/l'ed a song off the internet. . . and it shut my entire computer
down. I'm guessing I got some sort of virus or something, but when I went to
reboot, something called Data Execution Prevention keeps Windows Explorer
from working; shuts it down right away. Does the same thing with
ctrl-alt-delete; tells me it shut down the task manager to protect my
computer from malicious code. The only reason I was able to get here is
because of the "what is this" feature in the erro message.

Bottom line. . . how do I get DEP to go away and fix my computer? I can't
even get to a dos prompt. HELP!!!

thanks!

What is the make and model of your computer? Data Execution Prevention
is new security measure being built into certain new computers.

A detailed description of the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) feature in
Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, and
Windows Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;875352

Start, Control Panel, Performance, Settings, Data Execution Prevention.

Can someone help me, I keep getting asked if I want to allow cookies for
various websites, I have answered no to some and now I cant get those
websites to open. How do I change this so that I can allow cookies to a site
that I have already refused?

I would suggest reading "Understanding cookies" in Internet Explorer
Help.

Also this link particularly noting the explanations of first party
cookies and third party cookies.
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/sec_cook.mspx

Also note the ability to make changes Start, Control Panel, Internet
Options, Privacy, Advanced, Override automatic cookie handling. If you
check override and check Prompt for First Party and perhaps Third Party
I think that will achieve what you. You can always uncheck override
later.
