Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows Message every time I

Hi, Every time I turn on my computer (starting yesterday when I installed an
HP printer and also discovered that I had a ton of adware/spyware on my pc) I
get the same message. It says - Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows
and then
Name: generic host process for Win 32 Services
Publisher: Microsoft Corporation

What does this mean and what do I need to do? And in plain english please,
as my tech speak is not very developed yet!

Here is what it is:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...-us/memory/base/data_execution_prevention.asp

Basically it is a method where memory that isn't supposed to be executable
code can be marked as such and if executable code is placed in that region
it will cause a crash when it is accessed. This stops worms that take
advantage of Buffer Overruns to infect systems. It sounds like you have
something that is trying to infect your system but the service is crashing
(due to that memory being marked as non executable) instead of allowing the
payload code to run. This is a good thing. Can you look to see if there are
..dmp files in c:\windows\minidump and send some to me. I might be able to
see what is causing this.

Hmmm, I did a search for "minidump" and the one file that came up was a 64kb
file titled Mini053103-01.dmp which was created on 5/31/2003 and was last
accessed on 1-16-2005 at 6:32 pm which is about when this started happening.

Does that help at all?

I have this same issue and am even more tech uneducated. I don't know how to
research the .dmp files nor am I sure this communication deals with how to
fix the issue.

What are the next steps?

Thanks!!!

That's the same exact problem I am having. I intalled a HP printer on my HP
Laptop both brand new and I recieved this same Data Execution Prevention.
Right before this Windows Security said the HP psc was causing a problem or
somthing like that. Then it asked me if I wanted to block or not and I said
no. The next time I started up my computer, I got this Stupid Data Execution
error. But that ain't the biggest problem, when I try to open Windows
Exploror, I get a flashlight like it is looking for the contents and takes a
minute before I could view Windows Exploror. Very Frustrating. Now I
reinstalled windows on laptop Installed software and its fine. But, I
installed the Printer to my Desktop and the exact samething is happening.
What can I do. I tryed removing the Printer and software with no success in
Windows exploror. Thanx
