I am trying to copy the calender & personal address book from my slave drive
to a cd-r. My master drive has XP Home sp2. The slave has I believe XP pro
sp1a. I can read the slave but when I search for the PAB files. None are
found. I have been told that they are there. I cannot open Outlook on the
slave. i receive a message I have to install on software. Outlook 2002 is
installed on my master drive. Any suggestions?

Try a search for *.PST files instead.

That did help, unfortunately it did not work. I believe my problem now to be I
am trying to extract data from a drive that has a full Win XP partition using
that drive as a temporary slave. I guess I am dealing with an NTFS partition
and I cannot access the data I want. I'm trying to back up data before I
re-load xp. The drive came from a machine that the motherboard died and XP
will not boot on it's own

Sounds like an issue of taking ownership. See this link:
HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP

Or type ownership in help and support.

Hi Darrel,

Rock brings up a good point about ownership. If taking ownership of the
data files does not work, you may want to ask this question over at one of
the Outlook newsgroups.

Do you have two instances of XP installed, one on each drive? If not
this makes no sense. If they are separate installations, then you need
to 'take ownership' of the folder Documents and Settings\you on the
drive that is seen as purely a data one by your main installation

I want to thank you all for your help. Taking ownership of the files worked
