damn that conexant modems!!i just posted a help request to microsoft about my conexant modem that doesnt work under xp and rubs the machine hard!but then i thought maybe i can get the answer in "windows xp general" section:but damn!anyone who has a problem has both xp and conexnat!ant both me and my friend whom i loaded xp to his computer had the same damned problem!"no dial-up voice","wrong driver",system shuts down!i tried everything suggested by everyone,from the producer,from microsoft...but never worked.now i am FORCED!! to use another windows version because that damned conexant modems work under other operating systems!i use winme and no problem with the modem.damn it!

I agree with you on the Conexant modem problem but I have
managed to find drivers that allow it to work if you want
them.

I also found though, that the $19 Intel modem works
better anyway.

If you can't get it to work, and the maker and MS can't help, it might be
best to junk it. You can get a new U.S. Robotics Windows XP compatible
modem at CDW for as inexpensive as $18.99.

My friend, maybe you should sit back and take a gander at
your logic. You have an OLD modem that doesn't work on a
NEW operating system so you will scrap the OS and save
the modem. Doesn't sound logical to me.

Maybe you should listen to "t_cruise" and toss the "damn"
modem. It's good advice. Think!

some friends say that its my fault:damn look at the ohters.every conexant owner has problems wit it (when used with XP) dont ever say its maybe because the drivers,coz i used ALL drivers that can work with conexant firstly the installation cd came wit it.damn again.and dont.conexant+windows xp is a very bad couple for internet.i never suggest anyone use it.now i am connected to internet with the same damned modem,but wit winme..thanks

Downgrading from Windows XP to the vastly inferior Windows ME because of a
modem incompatibility problem, which could have been solved by purchasing a
new Windows XP compatible modem for about $18 is illogical. Sic transit
