My original CD that came with my computer has been
damaged. The company that built my computer told me that
I had to contact Microsoft for a replacement. What is the
easiest way for me to get another copy without having to
pay the retail price again?

Please help.

Thank you,

If the original CD was supplied with your computer, the replacement
responsibility rests with the system builder. Microsoft cannot replace an
OEM disk and the system builder knows this.

Contact MS as was suggested, they may be able to provide a replacement with
proof of purchase for the original.

The Microsoft Order Desk should be able to assist you with your issue.

They can be reached at 800-360-7561. Their hours of operation are Monday
through Friday 5am-7pm PST.

The Microsoft Order Desk can help you with the following types of

questions:

* Ordering replacement disks or parts

* Ordering supplemental parts (disk conversion)

* Ordering a replacement manual

* Ordering a service release or service pack

* Checking on the status of an order for any of these items

For your convenience, you may check the status of an order placed online at
http://status.microsoft.upgrade.com.

If you received your original software from the manufacturer of your

computer, please contact your original equipment manufacturer for

replacement disks and manuals.

The person who told you this is not being straight with you.
Microsoft does not provide replacement copies of OEM versions
(which is what you have, if it came with your computer).

Your recourse is with the company who built and sold you the
computer, not Microsoft.
