reinstall windows xp home / product key problem

I have a problem. I had a motherboard burn out and also damage my hard drive.
I am replacing both of them. The computer came with XP Home SP1
pre-installed. I creatied a CD from the i386 folder along with SP2
slipstream. Now that I am trying to install XP on the replacement HD and
motherboard, the Product key sticker will not work due to the fact that the
CD is not identical to the originally pre-installed version. My product key
is legal. I can't afford to buy windows XP again and have no idea what to do
now? I have original 'recovery' cd that came with the emachines computer but
that will not work on the new motherboard.....

Helpppppppp please!!!!!!

Yes the recovery CD will only work with an eMachines motherboard. It is
BIOS locked. To use the product key on the sticker you'll need to use a
generic OEM XP CD. If you know someone who has one, borrow it and make a
copy.
