I have a D-link DSL-2640R router. TalkTalk is my provider.
My desktop ( W7 Ultimate ) Is connected via ethernet cable. And I have various laptops running W7 Home Premium which connect wirelessly except when I do updates, then tey get connected via ethernet cable.
The problem is always around midnight on my desktop showing in the notification area stating I have limited or no internet access, yet my laptops still connect wirelessly withut a problem. I have had a chat with TalkTalk, they went onto my PC remotely, but said they can't see anything ( normally the case, because I think their support is useless )
I have noticed in the past that the WLAN, DSL and Internet LED's fash like mad just before this happens. Could my router be on its way out ?

My first thought was Rein, but as the lappys still work then i'm not too sure... Can you try a new router?

REIN > http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/rein.htm

As you said its always about midnight, thats what made me think Rein, as it could have been something 'turning on' at that time each night. :)

Regarding the FW update, You will need to grab it off the site, Talks Talks i'd assume, maybe d links own. Is the FW TT branded or just the vanilla D Link one?

Then flash if via the web interface of the router. Where the option is i couldn't tell you!

Google dont come up with much, you sure thats the correct model? Its not the 2640 is it?

Only thing I can think of turning on is the burglar alarm. I shall look into the FW update today. Yes yu are correct, its a 2640. Typo by me. Can you edit my original post to correct it please ? :D
