D: cannot record CD

I cannot record using D: and CD R. Message keeps asking me to insert a disc.

The MS recommendations were not helpful as I could notwrite in the suggested
path in Registry Editor on any screen. I could not see any steps to follow
at the
left screen at Registry Editor.

The D: drive can read CDs; just can't record. What can I do?
