Help! All I am trying to do is copy a file from my Zip drive to my HDD and I
get "Cyclic Redundancy Check" error. Why, and how do I copy the file?

Thanks

It would appear that the file is corrupted.

What I've done, is I've downloaded XP SP2 from MS at work as I have
broadband access there and only 128k ISDN at home! Unfortunately, the only
medium I have available to get the file home is a 100MB Zip drive, so I used
a file splitter to split the file into three. The first two sections copied
properly, the third has this error. If I do it again tomorrow, is there a
way to check that the sections copied onto the three Zip disks are not
corrupted?

Thanks

Don't you have a friend with broadband and a cd-burner? Or just be
patient (there isn't any rush) and order a cd from Microsoft for free:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.m
spx

(note that the above url wraps in my newsreader and will have to be
entered into your browser's addressbar on one line)

Try reading the zip disks at work before you take them home.

You can try new, fresh zip disks. File splitters aren't without their
hangups however. A burned cd is the way to go really.

I re-d/loaded at work, resplit the file, tested the copies, copied them back
at home, re-combined the file, installed, and Bingo! SP2 with (at the
moment) no problems at all!

Excellent!
