I have asked this before and got no response whats-so-ever so I don't know
if it is such a stupid question that nobody feels like responding or what,
but I have tried to find the answer for myself - honest. I can drag folders
from the all folders list to the favorite folders list, but they have gone
away when I close Outlook and reopen it. Is there a way to keep them from
going away from the favorite folders list when Outlook is closed?

The navigation pane configuration file is easily corrupt for some users.

Delete the XML (and FAV if present) and try again. Both are at C:\Documents
and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. You can easily
access it by pasting %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook in the
Address bar of your browser or Windows Explorer.

You can copy the XML and restore it if Outlook keeps replacing it.
