Customize Notification

I right click on the taskbar and go to 'Properties' then 'Taskbar' then
'Customize' to get to the Customize Notification section. When I click on
either the Current Items or Past Items a drop down menu appears under
Behaviour. However there are no choices other than 'Hide when inactive',
there is no 'Always hide' or 'Always show'.
Why are there no choices and how do I change it?

Thank you.

When I click on the drop down box the only selection I have is 'Hide when
inactive', no other selections appear. I just discovered that my logon, to
Windows XP Pro, is the only one with this problem. When someone else logs on
they have the 3 choices. I do have administrator rights for my logon.
Any suggestions?

I sure hope you clicked "Notify me of replies" because I have solved the
problem. It happened to me, too, and I also posted a question about it, even
referring to your post. But Your comment that it did not happen with all
logons led me to check my other logons, too, and I discovered the same
phenomenon. Ultimately, it led to the solution, too. Here it is from my own
post:

MYSTERY SOLVED!

Although it appears that the Behavior list is a standard drop-down menu, in
fact clicking on the downward-pointing arrow will accomplish nothing when
experiencing this problem. The three choices will NOT appear. And that is why
it only appears that the current setting cannot be changed. Instead, pressing
the "A" key successively will cause the "Always Hide" and "Always Show"
choices to display alternately and pressing the "H" key will cause the "Hide
when inactive" choice to display. It appears that this behavior is some kind
of bug, because the drop down menu does work properly on some of my user
accounts and not on others.
