Customize menu does not stick

If I move a button to a new position on the tool bar or add a button to my
tool bar using the customize menu option, the button is gone when I restart
outlook 2007. Yes I have admin rights. This happened in my previous version
of 2002 also. Thanks.

This is an indication that Outlook isn't cloing properly when you believe
you've closed it. The customization isn't being written out properly at
rundown. Use the Processes tab of Task Manager to see if Outlook actually
closes. Write back with the results.

It closes out from the processes list after about 5 seconds.

Just to make sure, this is the OUTLOOK.EXE process on the Process tab and
not "Microsoft Outlook" on the Applications tab, correct?

Correct.

Brian, I'm having the same symptoms as Bob did. I've carefully followed this
thread. In both full and safe modes Outlook 2007 loses the cusomizations to
the menus I make and it closes completely, i.e., the OUTLOOK.EXE is removed
form the Processes list.

Pressing on, Ed

Does it happen if you create a new mail profle and PST?

Yes. I created new profile & PST, then modified the menu arrangement and
altered on menu. Then I closed Outlook. When I reopened it, the menu changes
were gone.

Try deleting the (usually hidden) file
%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook\outcmd.dat and trying again.
