Test Man

Hi.

Is there anyway of forcing a specific folder view or customised folder view
when someone is using a normal Explorer window, My Computer window or
Windows Explorer window in Windows 98, Me, 2000 and XP, especially when you
burn to disc?

I ask because I have a folder with lots of pictures (JPEGs, TIFFs, etc.)
which I will burn to CD or DVD and would like to be able to use a custom
view for whatever version of Windows is being used to view the folder.

If it means including multiple files for multiple versions of Windows, that
doesn't matter, just want to know the steps I would need to take for each
version of Windows, if at all possible.

You may be able to force a recipient to accept a view using an autorun.inf but
mamy people switch off autorun on CD/DVD drives to avoid just this kind of
intrusion. Unless they choose to view their folders "as a web page" as a result
of reading some Readme.txt on the CD in which you recommend it you would need a
script which may be flagged by their anti-virus. The script would have to
distinguish between the various operating systems so that your different custom
view could be imposed.
There are some custom webview templates at:

Best of luck,
ern.
