Cursor Disappearing

When using Word, just for simple stuff like typing papers, my cursor keeps
disappeaing. I've found two threads on here discussing this, but none of the
suggested solutions there worked. Anyone have any ideas to keep me from
throwing my laptop at the wall?

Thanks so much

Is it perhaps just getting very small? If so, switching to 500% Zoom and
back seems to fix it (temporarily) for most users.

No, I don't think so. If it were just getting really small I assume I would
still be able to type. I'm in the middle of sentence and think I'm typing
and realize nothing's happening and my cursor is gone. Then I have to click
back on the screen to be able to type again.

Also, I wasn't clear last time. I'm using a laptop, so no mouse is involved
in case that matters.

I will still try the 500% zoom thing though.

Thanks

Almost certainly you are brushing the touch pad with the heel of your hand.
Keep your hands off it!

This is a different issue. It would appear that the window is losing focus.
Graham's guess about the touchpad might be on target if you're using a
laptop.
