cursor behaving on its own

Hello,

My cursor without any reason begins to move and selecting
icons in the desktop. When I'm writting in Word for
example, it may all of a sudden jump to a different
section, and when I try to move the cursor back, it
selects a section as if I was holding the left button,
but I'm not.

Any reason for such behavior? Can it be a virus? I've
done a complete anti-virus check and nothing comes up.

Any ideas and solutions would be greatly appreciated,
thank you in advance.

I did not see a reply to this problem. I am having a
similar probem when I type in Word, mail programs, MS
OneNote. The cursor jumps to a different line while I am
typing. On a similar posting it was suggested to update
the video driver, which I did. My computer is less than
5 months old and it started about a month ago.
Not sure what else to do.

i would be looking for a hardware issue. hair trigger key, mouse, etc.

if you are typing on a laptop with a touchpad you may be doing it by
getting too close to the pad - without actually touching it.
