Current Security Settings Prohibit Running ActiveX

M

monicram

I am getting this warning message when I try to launch an
on-line course at smartforce.com

"Your Current Security Settings Prohibit Running ActiveX
Controls on this Page. As a result, the page may not
display correctly"

I asked for help to the support team at smartforce and I
did all they suggested: I changed the internet security
settings, I added the site to the trusted sites group, I
unistall my pop-up blocker, I even tried reinstalling IE.

The version of IE I have is 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp1.020828-
1920

WHAT CAN I DO?

PABEAR: Thanks for your help

But, still having the same problem.

Does it has something to do with Windows XP configuration?

What third-party applications are running in the background (e.g., anything
by Norton or McAfee)?

Copy/paste the following line into an IE Addressbar, click on GO, then
copy/paste the results into your reply:

javascript:navigator.appMinorVersion

What else is running in background when this happens?

Do you have this problem on any other website?

Can you post the URL of the page(s) where this is happening?

OK!

I opened a command prompt and typed the "jview" command
but it said:

"Jview is not recognized as an internal or external
command,operable program or batch file"

but I know I have the Java(TM)2 installed, so I went to
java.sun.com I ran a test and the result was OK, this is
the Java configuration:

Java vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
JRE Version: 1.4.2_04
Operating System: Windows XP
OS version: 5.1

the Default Virtual Mahcine is Version 1.4.2_04-b05

This is what appears in the browser after I use the
address javascript:navigator.appMinorVersion

;SP1;Q837009;Q832894;Q831167;

I only have the antivirus, dell support alerts and the
Java (TM) 2 platform running in the background

This is the only web site I have always had this problem
( and I want to access it because they have on-line
courses for different certifications as Microsoft, cisco,
a+, etc)

This is the web site I am trying to use:
http://www.smartforce.com
here I log on to
http://my.smartforce.com

and when I try to access the e-learning paths site is
when the warning appears, and I can't do anything else.

Check for hijackware (doubtful as you evince no other problems, supposedly,
but who knows?):

Download, update, then run these tools in the following order with nothing
else running in background:

1. CWShredder (fix all found)

2. Ad-Aware (fix all found)

3. Spybot (RTFM but generally fix everything in red)

Important: You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each
and every use, even "right out of the box".

it seems there si something wrong in the Registry (!!!!)
I downloaded and ran CWSheredder, Ad-aware (already had
this one),Spybot and all of them found malware in the
registry. I ran them like 3 times and "fix" the problems
and when I restarted the PC the programs where agian in
the registry

This is the last result for Ad-aware

Jeired RegKey Malware HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT:CLSID\{707e6f76-

Jeired RegValue Malware

I used HijackThis and I am trying to poste the log in the
forums chats to see if someone can help me.

I'm starting to worry about this!

Did you remember to seek updates to CWShredder, Ad-aware, and Spybot before
running them? Ad-aware reffiles dated 02 March-04 and later identify
JEIRED: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/news/product/march04.shtml.

See this JEIRED-related recent thread in Ad-aware forums:
http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=24999. It contains some
detailed instructions for using Ad-aware to remove JEIRED.

Where did you post your HijackThis log? Can you post the URL of the thread
in the forum?
I'm starting to worry about this!

I would, too!
