"Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX
controls on this page. As a result, the page might not
display correctly."

This is the message I get everytime I try to install Flash
Player or visit a site that uses Flash. Does anyone know
how to fix this?

Try this:
1. Close all instances of Internet Explorer
2. Click Startm click Run, type regedit in the Open Dialog box and press OK
3. In Registry Editor, navigate to this registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
ActiveX Compatibility\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}

4. Delete the "Compatibility Flags" value
5. Restart IE

Thankyou but I don't have {D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-
444553540000}. I have a lot of those in the ActiveX
compatibility file but not that specific one. Thanks
again for the help, but sadly, no success.

I am getting this stupid message OFF LINE every time I try to use Msdn or
some other
help files (Logitech).

What can I do to suppress it ?

There is no 'LOCAL' setting of security, is there ?

My guess is that the key given was for Flash only ?

I tried to change/remove killbit setting for HHopen.ocx, HHctrl.ocx,
Plugin.ocx,
and even to change version.
(hhctrl seems to be the only ocx used when the message is displayed)

I am still getting this stupid message every time I use help (msdn,
logitech, Office...)

Can anyone help me to get rid of this ?

Which version of hhctrl.ocx do you have?

FWIW I have had to reapply 811630 twice now after IE's cum. updates.
and once I had to re-register hhctrl.ocx after doing that.

Hmm... make that twice now for re-registering hhctrl.ocx.
I opened an MSDN library page and the TOC had "Not available"
as its only node. Pressing Ctrl-F5 didn't help but re-registering
hhctrl.ocx and pressing Ctrl-F5 did. ICIM I closed everything before
re-registering.

Good luck

Well, it is 5.2.3375

I restored it from a recent MS patch. Did not change anything!

I'll try again. Which version should be used with Win SE and IE 6 ?

Thanks

Typo?

According to 811630 Windows 98 and Windows 98 Second Edition
would both get
<quote>
16-Dec-2002 18:10 5.2.3735.0 516,192 %Windir%\System\Hhctrl.ocx
</quote>

Notice the date. That seems to be the only distinguishing difference
between it and the ones made for the other OS. (I don't know if there
is any internal difference or not; they could be identical or there could
be (e.g.) some differences in values which would still allow them to have
the same length.)

Did you try re-registering it?

Good luck

Robert

Responses : Yes, it was a typo. 5.2.3735 and Date is same as what you say
below.

And NO, I did not try to Unregister/register it.

Now, I did.... And YES, it DID SOLVE the problem (at least up to now).

Very, very very weird......

And many thanks.
