Currency format won't centre

I have totals formatted as currency, no decimal positions. However, I
cannot centre them too. Any ideas?
Using Excel XP.

Hi Deborah,

You should be able to center the cell via
Format>Cells>, click the Alignment Tab, and choose Center in the Horizontal
box

Yes I should be able too. But this way or on toolbar has no effect on
my cell. I have also done a Clear Formatting to make sure there is
nothing else attached from previous users and reapplied Currency then
Centre. A few files will not let me centre them and other files work
fine.

It is buggy to say the least.
