My cue files have been accidentally set to open with a program. I
don't need them to open with anything. How can I change this to where
there is no assigned program for the files to open with. I would
rather assign it on a case by case issue. If I want it to open with
notepad i want to select it if I want to open with Daemon Tools then
that's what I want or no action at all. This is affecting me being
able to open my Daemon Tools to brun my cd's PELASE HELP!!!!!!
Urgent..i have deadline to complete the cd's.

In a session of Explorer (assuming you're using something-XP), click on 'Tools
| Folder Options | File Types', then scroll the list to ".cue", highlight that
selection, then click the "Delete" button.

This isn't exactly freeware related but anyway...

It shouldn't matter. You can right click on a file and use "Open with..." or
you can just use the program itself to open the file.
For Daemon tools, you right click on the icon in the systray, and use the
mount image option.
Also, I don't think you can burn CDs with Daemon Tools. It only does CD
drive emulation last time I checked.

That is correct I use CDClone to burn them but since I accidentally
assigned Deamon Tools as the open with program it knocked all my
information for d-tools in the systray out. I hope that this works

Once I delete will this allow me to reassign this function because it
is affecting my daemon tools because now it isn't mounting my images to
so that I can use cdclone to copy the cd's.

If you wish (?) for a certain app to open .cue files, then perhaps
re-installation of that app will (re)enable the opening of .cue files, as you
wish it.

i tried that and it didn't work but I will try to delete. Now when I
delete from the tools menu in explorer will that delete all the cue
files?

Huh? Why would deleting a file-reference delete actual files, by themselves?

Or perhaps you mean something else, but your "style" of reply is quite obscure.

This may be of some help. Recently, there have been a few postings on
multiple-association apps, which allow you to associate more than one
app to an extension, which when you click on the file, you'll get some
sort of popup that asks which app you want to open it with. Search
a.c.freeware at groups.google.com for specifics.

Two that have been mentioned are WAssociate and OpenExpert. However, if
you're not sure how to use/install, then just go with the advice
already given.

And, no, deleting the association link will not delete your CUE files.

BTW -- since CUE/BIN files are almost always associated with the same
apps [they typically go as pairs] if you want, you could always
associate the CUE with one app and the BIN with another. Though if
unsure, probably best to leave with the app you most want them to open
with.

Finally, the CUE is simply a little file telling your apps about the
BIN file. If you ever lose or accidentally delete, or simply don't have
the CUE, you can recreate it with a freeware app such as CUEator:

I don't know if this helps:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/CD-DVD-Images-Utils/InZeCue.shtml

"InZeCue is a freeware which can repair CUE files. It can correct two
differents CUE files.

The first is the binary cue. It is used with Image-CD *.bin
InZeCue will repair the bad association between the bin and the cue.

The second is the music cue. It is used with a music file like *.mp3
InZeCue will repair the bad association between the mp3/wma/ogg/mp4/mpc

and the cue.

It will repair the bad times in the CUE, and the bad format of music
file."
