Ctrl-K lookup in Outlook 2002

Martin Kemp

I'm trying to find a way to get back the old behaviour
that I'm sure existed in Outlook 2000:

Say I had an email address of (e-mail address removed) I'm sure
that I used to be able to use a lookup of

use myd

and then press ctrl-k I would get the particular
suggested.

This behaviour is not now present in Outlook 2002 as far
as I can see. Is that the case? Or is there an extra
option I need to check?

Thanks!

typing
use ctrl+k
will bring up all the people with "use" in their name. I never typed more
than I needed to, so I can't say if "use myd" worked in older versions. (I
selected from the list if more than one contact matched.)

That's true, except that the list is in a dialog that is
not resizable and the important bit (the email address)
appears in the 3rd column, which I have to scroll to see
(using the right arrow, which I never use). Also the
action of scrolling by clicking in the scroll area (i.e.
a page scroll) invariably takes the list too far.

E.g. If I just type

use ctrl-k then I might get:

User1 (e-mail address removed)
User2 (e-mail address removed)
User3WithAVeryLongNameExtendColumn (e-mail address removed)

Except that the dialog, not being resizable, will just
show

User1
User2
User3WithAVeryLongNameExtendColumn

So I have to use clunky scrolling actions to get to what
I want to see, often with a column that is not properly
sized and hence obscures the bit I'm interested in,
namely the email address.

However, by typing in

use myd ctrl-k

then I should be able to reduce the size of the matching
names to just one.

I'm sure that Outlook 2000 used to do this for me.
Perhaps I'm wrong. Of course this is exacerbated by the
fact that nicknames don't work in OL2002 now, either.

Thanks anyway,

Martin Kemp
